Communicator. Creator. Storyteller.

Alex Hamby serves as Communications and Marketing Administrator for the City of Duncanville, where he oversees public information, media relations, digital communications, website and social media management, branding, and community outreach.

With a career spanning municipal government, marketing, publishing, and creative communications, Hamby brings both strategic and hands-on experience to telling an organization’s story. In Duncanville, he has led two municipal website redesigns, expanded the City’s digital and social media presence, strengthened Spanish-language communications, implemented new communications and engagement tools, and brought major creative projects such as the annual State of the City production in-house. He also serves as staff liaison to the Duncanville Arts Commission and has helped develop initiatives supporting public art, arts funding, and Duncanville’s first Poet Laureate program.

Before entering municipal government, Hamby worked in marketing and brand development, creating and managing brands, websites, and communications for businesses across multiple states. Earlier in his career, he managed production teams in the printing industry.

Creativity has been a constant throughout his professional and personal life. Hamby founded and published HeroRealm.com, an early online comics news and entertainment publication that developed a national readership and featured interviews with some of the comic book industry’s most recognizable creators. He is also a comic book writer whose work has been published by Viper Comics, as well as an artist and illustrator.

Beyond his professional and creative work, Hamby completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training and has taught yoga. An enthusiastic international traveler, he enjoys experiencing other countries, cultures, art, and food and bringing those experiences back into his creative outlook.

Throughout his career, Hamby has been drawn to the intersection of communication, creativity and community. Whether through public service, design, writing, art or storytelling, his work is grounded in a belief that good communication should do more than deliver information—it should help people connect.
